SupportS worker promote the personal, educational and social engagement  of seniors aged between 55 + and 24  and accompanying family members. Support workers respond to the needs and interests of Seniors and work in a range of environments. Methods include supporting recreational activities, providing information and awareness of historic sites,
Qualifications:            Must be eligible for Summer Student Employment Program
Knowledge of Metis Historical Sites and information preferred
Knowledge of and experience interacting with Metis Seniors
Able to speak clearly and provide informational background and history
Able to keep and maintain appropriate data as required
Expected job duties:
Historical Support workers' role varies greatly, but expected activities involve:
Presenting to Seniors and families regarding historical sites in and around Central Alberta in SLCS projects and resources;
Assist in assessing  the needs of Seniors, and planning and delivering programmes related to areas such as health, fitness, relationships and bullying;
running historical-based activities, outdoor education activities;
  • befriending and supporting Senior individuals in various settings;
  • supporting Senior individuals to encourage social inclusion;
  • some travel to sites will be required
  • undertaking administrative tasks, verifying information and responding to queries;
Reports To:
Historical Support Worker to Coordinator
Coordinator to Executive Director
Salary/Wages:
Historical Support Worker $13.00 per hr - $18.00 per hr, depending upon experience
Hours of Work:                Varied, minimum of 7 hours per week
Duration of Work:                       May 15, 2016 – August 31, 2016 –
Special Note:  Qualified Métis applicants will be given priority
